Hi I’m Sam!

I have lived in Griffith my entire life and grew up on a farm surrounded by a wide variety of animals. From rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and parrots to cats, dogs, and horses, caring for animals has always been a central part of my life. I even bred alpacas as both pets and herd guard. This upbringing sparked a lifelong passion for animal care.

Today, my own animal family includes a Staffy named Hunter, a Toy Poodle named Monte, a Ragdoll cross named Panther, and a Galah named Flame.

I began my career in veterinary nursing in 2011 through a school-based traineeship while completing my HSC. During this time, I worked casually alongside Mark and continued in the role while completing my qualifications. I then spent three years working full-time as a professional groomer, further developing my skills in animal handling and care.

In early 2018, I returned to Griffith Veterinary Hospital at the new Donaldson Street practice, where I now work in my true passion—veterinary nursing and wildlife care. I particularly enjoy assisting with the rehabilitation and treatment of native wildlife, whether that involves raising orphaned animals or helping injured wildlife recover and return to their natural environment.

The most rewarding part of my role is seeing the joy and excitement of pets being reunited with their families—it’s a moment that never gets old!
